Exhibition Furniture | Midlands Art Centre
Exhibition furniture for a range of touring shows.

PROJECT DETAILS
Project type: Exhibition display systems
My role: Design development, technical preparation, fabrication and installation
Key processes: CAD and CNC preparation, prototyping, sheet-material processing, modular construction and on-site installation
Waste Age

Designed and made by The Dual Works for the Waste Age: What Can Design Do? exhibition at Midlands Arts Centre, this modular display system was created from reclaimed H20 Doka beams, workshop offcuts and timber from previous exhibitions. I contributed across the full process, including concept development, CAD visualisation, rendering, prototyping, manufacture and installation. Components were cut to size and assembled using visible ratchet straps and minimal mechanical fixings, allowing the furniture to be easily dismantled, reconfigured and repurposed after the exhibition.

The Offbeat Sari

Fabricated and installed by The Dual Works for The Offbeat Sari at Midlands Arts Centre, this exhibition furniture was produced from a design by Studio Mutt. My role focused on translating the supplied technical drawings into manufacture, preparing CAD files for CNC machining, processing large sheet materials on the panel saw and contributing to the extensive on-site installation. The centrepiece was a large tiered display structure designed to support visitor access, requiring a carefully constructed internal framework and the precise assembly of its detailed external fins.
